Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we get most about Mabro — from converting airtime to closing your account.

Getting started

How do I create a Mabro account?

Download the Mabro app, register with your Nigerian phone number and email address, then complete BVN verification to unlock transactions.

What do I need before I can transact?

A verified account. Tier 1 (BVN verified) unlocks A2C, airtime, data, bill payments and wallet services. NIN verification raises your limits further.

Is Mabro free to download?

Yes. The app is free to download and register on; fees apply to certain transactions and are shown before you confirm each one.

Airtime to cash

What is the minimum airtime I can convert?

You can convert as low as ₦50 worth of airtime. The minimum varies by network, and the current rate is shown in the app before each transaction.

Which networks support airtime to cash?

Airtime-to-cash conversion supports MTN, Airtel and Glo.

How long does a conversion take?

Conversions are processed instantly. Once you confirm with your PIN, the airtime is swapped and your wallet is credited within seconds.

What happens if the transaction fails?

Your airtime remains intact and no deduction is made. If your wallet was debited, the amount is reversed automatically.

Payments and bills

Which bills can I pay on Mabro?

Airtime, mobile data, cable TV (DStv and GOtv), electricity for every Nigerian DisCo, betting wallet top-ups, and giftcards.

Do I get a token for prepaid electricity?

Yes. Prepaid tokens are delivered instantly in the app and by SMS. If you do not receive one within 2 minutes, contact support.

Can I buy for someone else?

Yes. You can buy airtime, data, cable subscriptions and pay electricity for anyone — just enter their number, smart card or meter number.

Wallet and withdrawals

How do I fund my wallet?

Transfer to your Mabro account number from any Nigerian bank app. It arrives as your wallet balance.

How long do bank withdrawals take?

Wallet-to-wallet transfers are instant, and so are bank withdrawals — when you transfer from your Mabro wallet to any Nigerian bank account, the money arrives within seconds.

Does my wallet balance earn interest?

No. Wallet balances do not earn interest.

Security and account

Is my money safe?

Every transaction requires a PIN, identity is verified with BVN and NIN, and your credentials are encrypted in transit and at rest. Funds are held in secure accounts with regulated financial partners.

What is the transaction PIN for?

All transactions require your 6-digit PIN. Mabro will never ask you for it — anyone who does is not us.

I forgot my PIN or can't log in. What now?

Use the "Forgot PIN" option on the login screen, or message us on WhatsApp and we will help you get back in.

How do I close my account?

Contact support. Withdraw any remaining balance first; data is then retained only as long as the law requires.
